Coal Dust Injection (CDI) technology for blast furnaces incorporates the use of fine pulverized and dried coal uniformly conveyed in dense flow mode in the several medium of safe nitrogen gas to the blast furnace tuyeres and injected into the furnace at PLC controlled metered rates through special lances. CDI systems consists of:

  • Raw coal handling sub system
  • Grinding and drying sub system
  • Injection sub system

Built-in safety devices eliminate the hazards of fire and explosion, and total PLC controlled systems ensure trouble-free inter phase and integrated operations.

Advantages from use of CDI system include:

  • Significant reduction in expensive coke consumption
  • Significant improvement in blast furnace productivity
